FAQ & troubleshooting
Quick answers to the questions that come up most often. Each answer links to the full page if you need more detail.
Jobs and the board
Why can't I drag cards on my phone?
Drag-and-drop only works with a mouse on desktop — touch dragging isn't supported. On mobile, tap the stage badge on any board card (it has a small chevron and opens a stage picker), or open the job and change the Stage field in the Edit panel. See Trackur on mobile for the full mobile layout.
A job disappeared — where did it go?
Two usual suspects. First, the Opportunity column starts collapsed by default — look for the thin vertical strip at the left edge of the board (on mobile, a collapsed stage header row) and tap it to expand. Second, if the job was archived it's hidden from the normal view; use the archive toggle in the toolbar (Show archived jobs) to switch to the archived-only view — search never surfaces archived jobs unless that view is on. See Archiving & deleting.
Why did the amber "due" pill disappear from the toolbar?
The pill only appears while at least one active job has an open next step due today or earlier. Completing those steps, removing their due dates, or archiving the jobs makes it vanish — that's it working as intended, since archived jobs never count. See Next steps & due dates.
Why does a date field say "Sorry, time traveller!"?
Dates in Trackur must fall between the years 2000 and 2099. The Edit panel rejects anything outside that range with the message "Sorry, time traveller! Year must be between 2000 and 2099." — correct the year and the message clears (it also disappears on its own after 5 seconds).
Editing and saving
Why is there no Save button?
Trackur saves each field the moment it loses focus — click or tap away and the change is stored (Enter also saves, except in the multi-line Notes field; Escape cancels). This applies to board cards, table cells, and every field in the Edit panel, so closing the panel never loses your edits. See Editing jobs.
I cleared the Role or Company field, but the old value came back.
Role and Company are required, so saving either one empty is silently ignored and the previous value is kept. Replace the text instead of leaving the field blank.
Resumes and Google Drive
Why did my resume upload fail?
Uploads hit one of three limits: the file must be a PDF or DOCX ("Only PDF and DOCX files are allowed"), it must be under 200 KB ("File must be under 200 KB"), and you can store at most 10 files in Trackur ("Resume library is full (max 10)"). Google Drive resumes don't count toward the 10-file limit, so linking from Drive still works when the library is full. See Resume library.
Why do my Google Drive resume downloads fail?
Most likely Drive was disconnected — the error reads "Google Drive disconnected. Reconnect in Settings to download this resume." Your linked resumes stay in the library and stay attached to jobs; reconnecting from the Settings panel restores downloads for the same files. If the error is "File not found in Google Drive", the file was moved or deleted in Drive itself. See Google Drive integration.
The Google Drive connect window never opens.
Connecting opens a popup with Google's consent screen, and popup blockers can stop it. Allow popups for my.trackur.app in your browser, then press Connect again.
CSV import and export
Why won't my CSV import?
If you see "Failed to parse CSV file. Please check the format.", make sure the file is a real CSV with a header row using the same column names as a Trackur export (id, company, role, stage, dateApplied, todos, notes, postingUrl). All dates must be in YYYY-MM-DD format — an invalid date can make the import fail with a "Failed to import jobs" error. Rows missing both a company and a role are silently skipped. See Importing from CSV.
I imported jobs, but some don't appear on the board.
Stage names in a CSV are case-sensitive and not validated on import — a row with "applied" instead of "Applied" imports fine, but the job won't appear in any board column because no column matches that spelling. Switch to Table view to find the job and correct its stage.
What does "Replace all" really do?
It deletes every job in your account — including archived jobs and all their stage history — and then inserts the jobs from the file. Imported jobs come back active, with no resume attached and a fresh history.
No undo
Replace all has no extra confirmation step and cannot be undone. It runs even if the file contains zero valid jobs, which wipes everything and imports nothing. Export a backup CSV before using it.
Notifications
Why am I not getting notifications?
Trackur's reminders are browser notifications, so they only fire while a Trackur tab is open — close the app and no reminders arrive until you return. Each type (due today, overdue, due tomorrow) also fires at most once per calendar day per browser. And if the Settings panel says "Notifications are blocked.", you previously denied permission — allow notifications for the site in your browser settings, since Trackur can't re-prompt. See Notifications.
Account and preferences
Why are my preferences different on another device?
Your view choice (Board, Table, or Stats), table sort, collapsed board columns, and dark mode setting are saved in your browser, so they don't follow you to another device or browser. Your jobs, resumes, name, and notification type toggles are saved to your account and do sync everywhere.
Can I change my email address?
No. Your email comes from the provider you sign in with (Google, GitHub, or LinkedIn) and is shown read-only in the Settings panel — there's no way to change it inside Trackur. See Account & settings.
Can I delete my account?
Not from inside the app — there is currently no account-deletion option in the Settings panel or the user menu. You can export your jobs to CSV and delete jobs individually, but removing the account itself isn't self-serve yet.
